  • Jars of marmalade

    Longreads

Marmalade: A Very British Obsession is just one of the long reads I’ve written recently, and explores Britain’s enduring fascination with a preserve that comes from an impossibly bitter, sour fruit that isn’t native to our shores. It was a notable mention in 2021’s The Best American Food Writing essay anthology.

It has also led me to becoming a returning judge at the World’s Original Marmalade Awards.

  • Manchester Confidentials

I regularly review restaurants for North-West restaurant review website, Manchester Confidentials. I’ve given my thoughts on everything from robots waiters in Cheetham Hill to fine-dining in Liverpool.

  • Table Talk

I have hosted the Spectator’s food and drink podcast, Table Talk since 2019, interviewing everyone from Jessie Burton to Ed Balls about their life through food. We have had over half a million downloads, with an average of 10,000 listeners per episode.

  • Museum of Curiosity

    Museum of Curiosity

Radio 4’s comedy panel show, Museum of Curiosity, in which ‘three distinguished guests donate fascinating exhibits to a vast imaginary museum.’ My contribution? A jar of marmalade, of course.
